Fun fact: The “theater bug” first bit me when I got my first big break playing a talking parrot in A Christmas Carol at a local theater in my hometown of Quakertown, Pennsylvania!
As an artist, I am inspired by stories of grief, love, and magic. In my personal life, I’ve struggled with the deaths of several of my loved ones, so being able to connect with other artists and audiences over the one of the most pivotal human experiences is my way of honoring their memory. After all, “What is grief, if not love persevering” (WandaVision). Growing up, I rarely saw women with similar body types to mine playing love interests or strong protagonists in media, so I’m extremely passionate about body-inclusivity on the stage and screen. As a hopeful romantic, I’d love to star in a rom-com one day. They say that love is the closest thing we have to magic, but I’m also obsessed with stories involving spells, potions, and wands, so I’d be overjoyed to visit any type of fictional fantasy land in the future.
I was first introduced to the stage when my mom put me in dance classes as soon as I could walk. (Thanks, Mom!) Although I don’t consider myself a dancer first, tap dancing was my first love, specifically because it gave me an appreciation for rhythm and music. When I was in the 3rd grade, I asked my parents to put me in piano lessons and by the time I was in 8th grade, I started teaching my own students! In 8th grade, I also began taking voice lessons and studying opera. In middle school, I got the opportunity to really sink my teeth into acting when I got to play a dead body in a murder mystery! My school didn’t have an auditorium, so we performed in the cafeteria and gymnasium. To this day, I love to see theater performed in unconventional and imaginative spaces.
Even though I grew up around Philly, I’ve always said that my heart is in New York. This was confirmed when my Mom took me to see my first Broadway show, Finding Neverland, and I started crying as soon as the Prologue started and I witnessed the real-life magic of live theater in New York City. I’m so proud to say that in May, I graduated from Rider University with my BFA in Acting for Film, Television, and Theatre and in June, I fulfilled my life-long dream of moving to New York City with my dear friend, Meredith Bishop, and our pet snail, Sidewalk (who she courageously saved from dying on the sidewalk during the heatwave). Everyday here is truly a dream come true and I’m so excited for this next chapter of my life!
When I’m not performing, you can find me playing my favorite role of “best friend” to the most amazing people I know, baking something sweet, or rewatching Netflix’s The Society for the fifteenth time (by the time you read this, I’m likely on my twentieth).
